Facebook is the most popular social networking website on the World Wide Web today. If various surveys are to be believed, Facebook had more than 1.06 billion monthly active users by January 2013. Moreover, Facebook’s app is the most downloaded on smartphones and other such gadgets. These stats reflect the popularity of this giant networking site and show how much people love it. Although Facebook is available for everyone and it can be accessed from any part of the world, sometimes the website is blocked due to several reasons such as the following
- Governments implement countrywide restrictions on Facebook due to religious, cultural or political reasons
- Schools and universities block Facebook in order to keep the students busy with studies
- Organizations and workplaces block Facebook due to security and productivity reasons
The blocking may benefit some of the people but annoys many as it restricts them from posting updates, sharing images and, most significantly, communicating with loved ones. Therefore, it becomes important to know about methods and tools to unblock Facebook. Some of the tools and
methods that are popular for unblocking Facebook are as follows.
Use IP address of Facebook - GetIP.com
Sometimes, schools and office authorities block the URL of Facebook. In this case, you can access the website through its IP address. All you have to do is to know the site’s IP address and then type it on the browser’s address bar instead of “www.facebook.com”.
Mobile version of Facebook - m.facebook.com
m.facebook.com, the mobile version of Facebook is also a good idea to access Facebook in restricted places. It works well when Facebook’s URL (www.facebook.com) is blocked by the administrators.
Proxy or Anonymizers
A proxy or anonymizer is a server that acts as a ‘middleman’ between you and the Internet gateway. It makes your IP address invisible while providing the IP address of any of the servers that are not restricted from accessing Facebook. This way, you can surf Facebook anonymously from any part of the world.
VPNs are the other tools that are widely used for unblocking Facebook and other sites. A VPN exhibits excellent bypassing technology that can intervene into the set firewalls and filters, allowing easy access. Apart from this, VPN also masks the real IP address of the user, like proxy servers do, by offering numerous IP addresses of remote servers. But it is more secure than a proxy as it encrypts the transmitted data, making it safe against hacking and tracking. VPN also safeguards the user against various malicious threads generated on the Internet.
The above-mentioned methods work well when implemented properly. Among these, VPN is regarded as the best because it not only allows you to unblock Facebook but also ensures your security against numerous online threats. So, it is recommended to use a reliable VPN for the purpose of unblocking. And Hotspot Shield is the best option.
